December Meeting at Brown and Caldwell!

Hello, PUG Members,

Our December monthly meeting will be held at the Brown and Caldwell office in Walnut Creek! The address is 201 N Civic Dr Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, and we will begin at 11:00 a.m. on December 12th, 2023. Take the South Lobby elevator to the 3rd floor.

The presentation will be provided by Vince Marano, from CMP Pipelines, and is titled, “Acquaint Acquarius In-Line Inspection of Pressure Pipes for Asset Management ”. The Acquaint Acquarius pipe inspection tool is from the Netherlands. It is an inline inspection soft foam pig that operates with a pipeline full of water and uses the water as a motive force. The main sensors are ultrasonic, an inertial mapping unit, a hydrophone, and a magnetic field wave unit. The Acquarius can inspect any type of pipe including metallic, non-metallic, and even AC pipe. The deliverables include xyz mapping, high-resolution measurements of wall thickness, joint angles and gap width, ovality, axial deformation, and more. Currently, Acquaint is performing over 1 inspection per week throughout the work. The Acquarius is a great tool to use to determine when and where any rehabilitation is needed on a pipeline sized between 8-inches to 54-inches.
