January Monthly Meeting

Hello PUG Members,

Our January monthly meeting will be held at the Brown and Caldwell office in Walnut Creek! The address is 201 N Civic Dr Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, and we will begin at 11:00 a.m. on  Tuesday, January 14th, 2025. Take the South Lobby elevator to the 3rd floor.

The presentation will be provided by Bill Bonney, Director of Estimating with NorCal Pipeline Services and is titled “Best Practices for Bidding CIPP and Spot Repairs”. The presentation will provide an in-depth overview of the best practices for accurately and competitively bidding Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) and spot repair projects. He will review key strategies for evaluating project specifications, assessing site conditions, and identifying potential risks and challenges. It will also cover cost estimation techniques, material selection, and scheduling considerations to ensure successful project execution.

33rd Annual Sharing Technologies Seminar

The Pipe Users Group of Northern California is happy to announce that registration for its 33rd annual SHARING TECHNOLOGIES SEMINAR is now open!

The single day, in-person, seminar will be held Thursday, February 13th, 2025, in Concord, California.

The seminar flyer, including the agenda as well as attendee and vendor registration information can be found here. Unlike previous years, registration is now completely online. A direct link to the registration page is provided here.  

A buffet country breakfast, plated lunch and cocktail hour is also included for all participants. 

Space is limited so please sign up early!! There are a total of 140 spots available and registration is on a first come, first serve basis. A total of 17 vendor tables are also available on a first come, first serve basis. So register now!

December Monthly Meeting

Our December monthly meeting was held at the UC Berkeley Center for Smart Infrastructure in Richmond, CA! Thank you CSI Director and UC Berkeley Professor Kenichi Soga and everyone at CSI for hosting our December monthly PUG meeting and providing the PUG members with an guided tour of the CSI Testing Facility!

December Meeting Agenda and November Minutes

NOVEMBER MONTHLY MEETING


Our November monthly meeting will be held at the Brown and Caldwell office in Walnut Creek! The address is 201 N Civic Dr Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, and we will begin at 11:00 a.m. on November 12th, 2024. Take the South Lobby elevator to the 3rd floor.

The presentation will be provided by Sarah La Vallee with Contra Costa Water District, Joe Heavin with Shannon and Wilson, and Bernadette Visitacion with Brown and Caldwell and is titled “Replacing a Canal with a 10′ Diameter Pipe“. This $27 million dollar project replaced 6,500 linear feet of the unlined portion of the Contra Costa Canal with a 10-foot diameter reinforced concrete pipeline located between East Cypress Road and Contra Costa Water District’s Rock Slough intake, in Oakley, CA. This presentation will highlight the design considerations and construction challenges associated with successfully completing this large conveyance project.

Accepting Abstracts for the 2025 Sharing Technologies Seminar! Due Friday Oct 11, 2024

We are very pleased to now be accepting abstracts for our 33nd annual Sharing Technologies Seminar. The seminar will be held in Concord, CA, on Thursday, February 13th, 2025. Abstracts are due Friday October 11, 2024 by 5pm.

The objective of the SHARING TECHNOLOGIES SEMINAR is to share information amongst agencies and industry professionals. Topics for papers should relate to pipe technology in construction, rehabilitation or maintenance. Emerging technologies and trenchless construction processes are of special interest. Case histories and/or lessons learned during challenging projects and new technologies used to solve unusual situations are also good topics.
