The Northern California Pipe Users Group (PUG) invites you to renew or apply for membership for the next fiscal year (July 2023 – June 2024). Please find the 2023-2024 application / renewal form, Paypal link, and PUG brochure at this link. Membership information:

  • Annual membership dues are $400. Dues for a retired individual is $100.00.
  • Membership period is from July 2023 through June 2024.
  • Members are by company/agency, not by individual. Annual dues cover all employees of your organization to take advantage of PUG activities and benefits.
  • Membership is open to agencies, consultants, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Hello PUG Members,

Our June monthly meeting will be held in-person, at the Brown and Caldwell office in Walnut Creek! The address is 201 N Civic Dr Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, and we will begin at 11:00 a.m. on June 13th, 2023. Take the South Lobby elevator to the 3rd floor.

The presentation will be provided by Mike Bussio from Armorock and is titled, “Corrosion-Proof Concrete Structures: Changing Perceptions of Sustainability Across California & Beyond”. The presentation will review the problem of corrosion due to H2S in wastewater systems and other environments, how engineers have traditionally addressed those problems, and why polymer concrete is the best solution to combat corrosion and I&I issues.

The presentation will be provided by Travis Bohan from Mark Thomas and is titled, “Survey Applications for Pipeline Projects”. Surveyors provide a variety of services for linear projects including base mapping and right of way services. This presentation will discuss some of the different applications and service options in support of the design of linear projects. Project examples will highlight these services.

April Meeting – In Person at Brown and Caldwell!

Hello PUG Members,

Our April monthly meeting will be held in-person, at the Brown and Caldwell office in Walnut Creek! The address is, 201 N Civic Dr Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, and we will begin at 11:00 a.m. on April 11th, 2023. Take the South Lobby elevator to the 3rd floor.

The presentation will be provided by Alan Goodman from Hammerhead Trenchless and is titled, “Maintaining Critical Infrastructure Proactively & Efficiently”. This presentation takes a proactive approach to address our aging infrastructure.  Some of the topics to be addressed are structural point repair, pipe bursting, & CIPP.  Recent advancements in light curing technology have resulted in contractors becoming more efficient and limiting the risk on each jobsite.  Municipalities are starting to take a more holistic approach to address both main and laterals within their system.

The presentation will be provided by Tania Treis from Panorama Environmental and is titled, “Environmental Review and Considerations in Pipeline Replacement Planning”. The presentation will discuss some key environmental processes and considerations that can impact pipeline replacement projects undertaken by public entities, and will discuss the environmental review process of an example project, the East Bay Municipal Utility District’s Alameda to Bay Farm Islands Pipeline Crossings Project. The project included three pipeline segments crossing through urban areas in Oakland and Alameda, and included in-bay work that triggered a range of permits to address land uses and in-bay marine resources
