2023 Sharing Technologies Seminar Abstracts – Deadline Extension!

The abstract deadline for our 31st annual Sharing Technologies Seminar is being extended until September 30th! A big thank you to those of you who have already submitted abstracts. The seminar will be held in Concord, CA, on Thursday, February 16th, 2023. 

The SHARING TECHNOLOGIES SEMINAR objective is to share information developed by agencies and industry professionals throughout the world. Topics for papers should relate to pipe technology in construction, rehabilitation or maintenance. Emerging technologies and trenchless construction processes are of special interest. Case histories and/or lessons learned of special projects and new technologies used to solve unusual situations are also good topics. Abstracts of papers should be no more than one typed page and should include the title, a brief description of the paper (limit 200 words), author(s), agency/company, contact person, address, telephone and fax number, and email.

Technical papers will be requested upon acceptance of abstract.

Abstracts are now being accepted until 5:00p.m. on September 30, 2022.

September Meeting – In Person at Brown and Caldwell!

Hello PUG Members,

Our September monthly meeting will be held next week, in-person, at Brown and Caldwell in Walnut Creek! The address is, 201 N Civic Dr Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, and we will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept 13th, 2022. Take the South Lobby elevator to the 3rd floor. 

The presentation will be provided by Jeff Tarantino with Freyer & Laureta and is titled, “Town of Hillsborough Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant Transmission Main Project”. The presentation will discuss how F&L, with Carollo, must perform a pipeline alternatives analysis considering multiple constraints including existing utilities and a multitude of fault crossings to improve the availability of water infrastructure along the Crystal Springs Watershed Wildland Urban Interface. Preliminary design and CEQA will begin in 2022.

August Meeting – In Person and at a New Location!

Hello PUG Members,

Our August monthly meeting will be held next week, in-person, at a NEW LOCATION. Well, technically, it’s an old location – we’re very excited to be moving back to Brown and Caldwell in Walnut Creek! The address is, 201 N Civic Dr Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, and we will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug 9th, 2022. Take the South Lobby elevator to the 3rd floor. 

The presentation will be provided by Scott Greenwood from West Yost Associates and is titled, “PCWA Foothill Raw Water Pipeline Phase 2”. The presentation will cover the planning, design and construction of over 15,000 feet of 12″ to 45″ pipeline, a railroad crossing, energy dissipation structures and pump station improvements for a project that connects existing pipelines located south of I-80 to the Foothill WTP.

July Monthly Meeting

Please join us IN-PERSON for our July monthly meeting. The meeting is going to be held at Centre Concord (5298 Clayton Road, Concord, CA 94521) at 11:00 a.m. NEXT Tuesday, July 12th, 2022. The presentation will be by Jennifer Glynn with Woodard & Curran titled “114 Year Old Structurally Compromised Large Diameter Combined Trunk Sewer in California’s Capital Revived Using CIPP.” The presentation will discuss the project’s design challenges and lessons learned.
