Based on customer/distributer notifications from Diamond Plastics, Napco, and JM Eagle, several resin manufacturers for PVC pipe have recently declared force majeure for various reasons, including impacts on resin plants created by Hurricane Laura in the Gulf region of the country. These impacts have in turn created difficulties within the PVC pipe industry and have triggered pricing and availability issues. Based on past experience, these shortages can also affect the prices of HDPE and CIPP products. It is advisable to contact pipe suppliers for price and lead time quotes for any projects that are close to bidding.

Hey everyone! A few emails have gone out about our “Call for Papers” for our 2021 VIRTUAL Sharing Technologies Seminar to be held on Thursday, February 18th, 2021. Due to the current circumstances regarding COVID-19 and our inability to predict what the fall and winter months will bring, we have decided to make our Annual Technology Sharing Seminar a virtual event. We are still planning to have a single full-day event and our goal, as always, is to make this a participant-forward program with as much audience interaction as possible.
Please submit an abstract and help us learn and teach each other by sharing your pipeline project experience.

Please join us for our September monthly virtual meeting at 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020, for the presentation “Pipeline Inspection and Acceptance Testing,” by Jeff Boschert with the National Clay Pipe Institute. This presentation will provide an overview of effective pipeline inspection and accepted testing methods commonly used such as CCTV, deflection testing, low pressure air testing, and hydrostatic infiltration testing. We hope you can join us for the meeting!

Elections for officer positions were held in June of this year. The contests for Chair, Vice Chair, CFO, and Secretary were all covered by incumbent board members running unopposed, while the positions of Communications Officer and At-Large Representative each had two individuals nominated for the position. The final results added Adam Brown from West Yost and James Kohne from Woodard and Curran to the PUG Board!
