Please join us for our virtual June Meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021, for a presentation by Daniel Breg with Stantec and Nina Buelna with the City of Sacramento titled “McKinley Park Combined Storage Project.”  

The presentation will be about the planning, design, and construction of the McKinley Water Vault which is an offline combined sewage storage facility owned and operated by the City of Sacramento Department of Utilities.  The reinforced concrete below-ground storage tank will divert and store 6 million gallons of combined sewage during wet-weather events and reduce sewer surcharging and street flooding.

The presentation will be about different operations and maintenance approaches on various siphons and the economic impact it can create for utility owners and contractors. The presentation will discuss:

1. Cleaning siphons that have not been maintained and where minimal information is available,
2. The methodology of siphon inspection and the various means that can be attempted dependending on the technology used, and
3. The combined approach of both inspecting and cleaning siphons.
