April Monthly Meeting

Hello PUG Members!

Our April monthly meeting will be held at the Brown and Caldwell office in Walnut Creek! The address is 201 N Civic Dr. Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, and we will begin at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 14 , 2026. Take the South Lobby elevator to the 3rd floor.

Sanaz Ghalambor and Behzad Basiri from Thompson Pipe Group will be presenting a project-driven discussion on material selection and the use of hybrid pipe system solutions to address challenges in both open-cut and trenchless pipeline installation. The focus will be on how selecting and combining materials can improve constructability, enhance installation efficiency, reduce overall project costs, and mitigate field and design constraints.

The discussion will be anchored by two case studies:

  • CID Irrigation System Project – demonstrating how a hybrid FRP/steel system improved constructability and installation efficiency in an open-cut application
  • Tri-City Outfall Project – highlighting trenchless microtunneling challenges, including alignment constraints and long-drive conditions, and how a hybrid FRP/RCP system addressed these complexities

These examples will illustrate how hybrid system design, such as the integration of FRP with steel fittings or flexible FRP and rigid concrete jacking pipe, together, can streamline installation, address project-specific challenges, and optimize overall project delivery.

Please  RSVP   using the Google Form Link by Friday April 10th, at 5PM
